Festival in action

The festival is engaged in the action of educating children in the field of media literacy through media workshops that, with the help of children's TV programs, increase their capacity for critical and creative thinking, improve self-expression, foster a culture of dialogue, and enhance fluent communication and teamwork abilities.

The workshops will be held at the premises of the European House in Belgrade, from October 2024 to May 2025.

The workshops are intended for elementary school children aged 7 to 15 and can be organized in elementary schools throughout the Republic of Serbia. For more information, you can inquire via email at festivalrastimozajedno@gmail.com

"We need a strategy that is inclusive of all children and that supports children in vulnerable situations, and we need a strategy that promotes and supports our right to participate in decisions that affect us.
Because nothing that is decided for children should be decided without children. It is time to normalise child participation."

Conclusion of the 13th European Forum on the Rights of the Child, 2020.

Children have a unique perspective on the world, influenced by their social status, knowledge, and psychological development. They seek positive and uplifting information but often gravitate toward negative and disturbing content.

Emotions play a crucial role in how TV programs and audiovisual content are received, their effectiveness, and their overall impact.

High-quality audiovisual content promotes positive emotions and responsibly manages viewers' feelings.

"State parties recognize the significant role of the media and will ensure that the child has access to information and materials from various national and international sources, especially those aimed at promoting their social, spiritual, and moral well-being, as well as their physical and mental health."

Convention on the Rights of the Child

The festival raises issues regarding the relationship between children and the media, the perspectives of children and young people on environmental topics influenced by the media, and the ways in which children participate in decision-making processes on matters that directly affect them and are present in the media.

MEDIA LITERACY WORKSHOPS
LET’S GROW TOGETHER

Understanding media content and messages is not a simple task, which is why mastering media literacy skills is essential. Developing media literacy strengthens logical and critical thinking and encourages communication skills, with the most visible effects achieved through the analysis of media content.

The LET’S GROW TOGETHER media workshops base their methodology on children's television content broadcast on the RTS Public Service and on public services and television stations across the region and Europe.

For preschool and school-aged children, media workshops where they analyze media content tailored to their age group, engage in peer debates that stimulate logical and creative thinking, and learn new concepts from various fields of society, science, and culture, provide an excellent foundation for shaping a media-educated generation.
